Annual Research Studies:

The eCities 2018 project was a success! The eCities study focuses on entrepreneurship because of its importance to the expansion and diversification of Michigan’s regional economies and the impact small businesses have on job creation. To date, nearly 300 communities across Michigan have participated in the study. Contact us to participate in the 2019 project.

Building a Shared Future: Understanding the Muslim and Jewish Communities of Southeast Michigan
iLabs surveyed 600 members of the Jewish and Muslim communities in July and August 2013 to understand more about where opportunities exist to promote deeper cross-cultural connectivity. Research findings were presented at the 2014 conference: A Shared Future: Jews and Muslims in Metro Detroit, which was co-sponsored by American Jewish Committee Detroit  (AJC) and Michigan Muslim Community Council (MMCC). [ More ]

The Economic Impact of Willow Run Airport 2014
In the fall of 2014, iLabs worked with Wayne County Airport Authority to conduct an economic impact study of Willow Run Airport.  The study found that Willow Run provides an economic impact of $123 million, adding $40 million to area incomes, and supporting 950 jobs in southeastern Michigan. In Summer 2013, iLabs worked with Detroit Metropolitan Airport to understand the direct and indirect impact of metro-Detroit's largest airport across the state and within the Detroit Metropolitan Air Trade Area. [ More ]

Improving Michigan's Workforce for Knowledge Economy Opportunities
Through the Department of Labor’s Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) Initiative, iLabs conducted a major empirical survey of 25-34 year olds who had some college experience but did not graduate. [ More ]

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is crucial to the health of the state and region. Over 18,000 employees work at the airport itself, but this represents only a fraction of the overall jobs impact of the airport. People throughout Michigan have a stake in its continued success.
