Center for Innovation Research

About E-Corps

E-Corps was a summer-long initiative proposed by iLabs, the Center for Innovation Research at the University of Michigan-Dearborn with support from the Betty F. Elliott Initiative. The E-Corps initiative created an entrepreneurial support team to support neighborhood-based entrepreneurs from all industries, all ages, all stages, and all backgrounds.

E-Corps had four main goals:

  • Provide resources for existing & potential entrepreneurs in Detroit

  • Improve access to resources for  existing & potential entrepreneurs in Detroit

  • Cultivate a deeper affinity among mentors/coaches for doing business in Detroit

  • Measure how participants have been impacted by participating in the program

The E-Corps team, in collaboration with community partners, held events in Detroit’s neighborhoods Eastside and Westside neighborhoods in partnership with Focus: Hope, Northeast Guidance Center, and the Northwest Detroit Farmer's Market.
